Experience Spiritual Joy & Knowledge at Skandasramam Temple.
Adi Shankarar, Thiruvalluvar the servitors of Siva, Vishnu and thousands of spiritual masters were born in this country and served the people. They still live with us in the hymns sung and teachings taught by them. The service they rendered to humanity with their words and deeds is indeed immeasurable.
In this glorious lineage of sages has come Srimath Satguru Santhananda Swamigal. Our Swamigal is of Avadhuta tradition of Dattatreya.
Bharat is a very ancient country vitalized by spirituality from the time that is immemorial. Innumerable sages and saints have fostered its spiritual culture and civilization.
Thus sings the great Tamil Poet Subramanya Bharati.
The country that is called Bharat is ours
- It is great in knowledge and spiritual joy.
- In keeping its honor and dignity in giving alms.
- In music.
- In nectar-like poetry.
- Indeed, this country imparts spiritual knowledge to the entire world.
- Upanishads are the unique scriptural books, that are our own.
- Is there any other in this world that is equivalent to our Upanishads?
This is how Bharathi praises the philosophical works bequeathed to us by the sages of ancient times. This country alone has found out the true meaning of human life and the ethical way by which the entire humanity must live.

Swami Santhananda
The shrine is primarily devoted to Goddess Ugraprathyangira Devi and Lord Sarabheswara. This shrine holds the unique distinction of being the first temple in India dedicated to Goddess Ugraprathyangira Devi. The town of Thirubhuvanam, near Thanjavur houses an ancient Chola temple dedicated to Lord Sarabheswara, while this temple is a more recent shrine dedicated to the Lord. However, Swami Santhananda is believed to have attained a heavenly abode even before the completion of this temple.
It has become famous thanks to the installation of the images of the goddess-mother SRI BHUVANESWARI, five-faced Maha Ganapathy, eighteen Siddhars, Sri Chakra Purna Maha Meru and massive sized Sivalingams. His Holiness has brought out the Mahamantras showing the proper way of Shakthi worship. For the welfare of people, thousands of Yagnas (Sacrificial fire worship) have been conducted.
Guru Padam Saranam!
His holiness Srimath Sathguru Santhananda has renovated the Datta Giri hermitage at Senthamangalam in Namakkal, the place where his guru lived. There he installed rare images of Siva and thereby obtained the blessings of self-effulgent Bramendra Savasvatuvadhuta Swamigal.
Ashram
In the Prayer Hall statues for our ancient sages and devotees have been erected.
Apart from these, he had a dream of founding an ashram at Chennai, the Capital City of Tamil Nādu. At last, his dream has become a reality and the ashram now is functioning in No 1 Kambar Street, Rajakilpakkam, East Tambaram, Chennai 600 073.
The dedication ceremony for the Ashram was held on 24th June of 1999 under the guidance of his holiness.
Let us visit the Ashram and seek blessings of the Almighty.
